Beautiful illustrated edition with a frontispiece and wood engravings in headbands and tailpieces by Constant le Breton.
Copy enriched with a handwritten letter signed by Charles Maurras: [My dear friend,... I lacked the time to reply to you in these three days, but not the time to think about it....] (see photos).

Limited edition, numbered to 1972 copies. This one, on Rives paper, bears number 548.

Well bound in a half-morocco binding in brown with corner pieces, spine decorated with blind fillets forming panels, with the title and author in gilt lettering, gilt head. Covers and spine preserved.
In very good condition, with solid binding showing some rubbing on the front cover and edges. Interior fresh and clean, with reddened edges.
A fine example.

One of the peaks of Maurras's work, cf. Eugène Marsan.
At least half of my life, he wrote, has been spent criticizing romantic sentiment and taste. This book represents the synthesis of my remarks on this point.

Text on the tumultuous loves of Georges Sand and Musset, followed by a philosophical and literary critique of Romanticism.
