Very luxurious illustrated edition of the famous work by Charles Dickens, adorned with 25 color compositions by the British artist Frank Reynolds, mounted on Japanese paper plates, with the
labeled snakes
Well-established copy, half-red morocco binding with a long grain, spine decorated with multiple fine gold lines forming compartments, cold tooling in the corners of the central compartment, gilt title and author at the head. Gilt top. Covers preserved, without the spine.
Very beautiful copy printed on large vellum paper, while the plates and the title page are also included.
On Japan. Uncropped pages.
Some friction on the caps, otherwise in excellent condition.
Charles Dickens's first novel (1812-1870) to be published as a serial, from 1836 to 1837. In France, it first appeared in 1887 in illustrated issues, titled The Adventures of Mr. Pickwick, a title that persisted until the 2006 reissue.
