Description from the seller

*** LAST COPY / LAST COPY ***

This work titled "The Balance of Desire" is offered as a Fine Art print on Fine Art NegPaper Rag+ Matt 310g paper (100% cotton, very slightly warm white), which is an extra-matte paper with deep blacks that allow for contrast and brightness to be rendered without any reflections. It is printed in a 22.5 x 30 cm format with margins; excluding the white margins, the image dimensions are 21 x 27 cm. The print is sold unframed.

The edition is strictly limited to 7 copies (regardless of the print run size), and each copy is signed with a monogram and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

This is copy number 7, that is, the last in the series. The printing is done with pigment inks, and the laboratory's stated preservation duration is 75 to 100 years.

Seller's Story

Georges Dumas is a plastic photographer, he exhibits and sells his works in France and Europe since 2007 through gallery exhibitions, shows and fairs, as well as several online galleries. For more than 15 years, he has been creating mixed media works that he calls paintographies. These are paintings generally made on canvas that combine photography, digital composition and acrylic glazes, each time unique pieces. The human figure is the almost exclusive subject of these works, with an important place given to the nude and the drapery, in line with the statuary of Antiquity and the Renaissance. The crossing of techniques such as the importance given to mineral materials which replace the flesh of the models make the paintographies unclassifiable works, both classic and contemporary, familiar and strange, on the borders of painting, sculpture and photography, in an aesthetic of freezing and petrification which justifies that we can speak of virtual sculpture. In 2021, Georges Dumas released "Corps du Temps", his first monograph with Éléphant Corridor editions. He regularly writes texts on other artists and gives conferences on visual photography, in particular on the Transfiguring movement which he founded in 2014.
