Patinated bronze decorative box shaped like a turtle – Europe, 20th century
Decorative bronze box with a patinated finish, shaped like a turtle, featuring an integrated hinged lid attached to the shell. The entire piece showcases a carefully crafted naturalistic sculpture, with detailed work on the shell, head, and legs.
This type of decorative zoomorphic object was widely produced in Europe during the 20th century, intended for decorative and functional use. It could serve as a catchall, candy box, or small object container, suitable for a desk as well as in a classic or contemporary interior.
The bronze exhibits a homogeneous, stable, and aesthetically pleasing brown-green patina. The interior shows natural green oxidation, consistent with the material. The opening mechanism functions properly.
