The color decomposition on a yellow background is based on the use of complementary colors and primary colors for tonal variations, maintaining the brightness of the yellow and exploiting additive synthesis with red and subtractive synthesis with brown to create depth and contrast without flattening it with white and gray, using primarily red to darken the basic yellow. This creates the exaltation of the forms of two bodies that merge in an embrace that no longer distinguishes the boundaries of the two figures depicted.
