Heart Amulet in Blue-Painted Steatite – Ancient Egypt

Charming heart amulet carved in steatite painted blue, a colour symbolising rebirth and protection in ancient Egyptian belief.
One side is finely engraved with the figure of an ibis, a sacred animal associated with the god Thoth, deity of wisdom and writing.

Heart amulets were traditionally placed on the chest of the deceased to ensure protection in the afterlife and a favourable judgement during the weighing of the heart.

Period: New Kingdom (circa 1550–1070 BC)
Material: blue-painted steatite
Dimensions: 18 × 10 × 5 mm
Condition: good, with natural patina and minor wear consistent with age

A small yet meaningful artefact rich in symbolism, ideal for collectors of ancient Egyptian antiquities.
