Description from the seller
Antique Herend Apponyi Pattern Plate (1905)
On the occasion of the 1867 Paris World Exhibition, the tables of the Élysée Palace were set with Herend porcelain services in the Apponyi pattern at a reception held in honour of Emperor Franz Joseph. The design was created at the request of Count Albert Apponyi, based on an enlarged detail of the Indian flower basket motif (Fleurs des Indes). The resulting pattern is refined and understated, painted by Herend masters in the pink colour variant (AP).
The Apponyi pattern has been hand-painted and handcrafted ever since, showcasing the exceptional artistry and craftsmanship for which Herend porcelain is renowned.
An antique, collectible Herend plate.
In very good condition. Please refer to the photographs, as they form part of the description.
No cracks or chips, no scratches; light age-related wear is visible on the gilt decoration along the rim.
