Armando, born Herman Dirk van Dodeweerd (Amsterdam, September 18, 1929 – Potsdam, July 1, 2018), was a Dutch painter, sculptor, poet, writer, violinist, actor, journalist, and filmmaker for film, television, and theater. Armando was his official name; his birth name, the pseudonym as he called it, no longer existed for him. He saw his work as a 'Gesamtkunstwerk,' for which his experiences during World War II in the vicinity of Kamp Amersfoort formed the basis. (Wikipedia)
