Kinderportrait, a 19th‑century oil painting on canvas from the USA, with frame included.
Description from the seller
Oil painting from the early 19th century, unsigned. Oil on canvas, double-mounted and framed. The frame is probably from the mid-19th century. Good overall condition, the frame is also good, with some minor signs of age, small repairs, and missing areas in the gold leaf. Photos are part of the condition report.
Expressive children's portrait of a boy, created around 1810–1820, probably in New England (USA). The smooth, clear modeling of the face, the calm background, and the slightly naive yet very precise depiction recall the works of John Brewster Jr. and other American itinerant painters of that period.
The child wears a red dress – typical for boys before 'Breeching' – and holds a straw hat as well as a small switch, as often appears in Brewster-related children's portraits.
Measurements: 105 x 92 cm (frame); 83 x 63 cm (canvas)
Note: Shipping is carried out via DHL-Express due to the size. The frame is intended as a free addition. Damage to it cannot be entirely ruled out during shipping despite careful packaging due to its delicate construction and, therefore, may not be considered in any refund.
The sales tax is not shown separately - special regulation for art and used items according to § 25a UStG.
