Beautiful volume compiling the entire year of 1919 of the bi-monthly magazine 'Nos Loisirs.' It includes the first 11 issues of the New Series, each illustrated by a different artist, including Gus Boffa, André Marty, Pierre Brissaud, Charles Michel, Boutet de Monvel, and Jean Dulac.
Texts by André Maurois, Jack London, Maurice Prax, Jacques Boulenger, Pierre Chaine, Tristan Bernard, René Bizet, Louis Beau...
Covers preserved for the 11 issues.
Antique binding in half brown leather, spine with raised bands decorated with gold tooling. Wear at the headbands and edges. Interior in very good condition, fresh, clean paper, without foxing. Very good copy.
French cultural magazine published from July 1906. The title disappears in January 1940. The focus is on humor, with short texts (funny stories, news, scientific curiosities, games, etc.).
Our leisure activities are interrupted with the start of the First World War, on August 9, 1914, after 423 issues under a cover signed Poulbot, then revived in July 1919. The format changes and becomes biweekly, subtitled 'the modern literary review,' while the full-page cover illustration is reduced to the size of a vignette.
