A splendid copy in a remarkable binding signed Marot-Rode in full cherry morocco, large frame composed of multiple gilt fillets on the covers; ribbed spine decorated with the title in gilt letters. Interior border, framing fillets, pastedowns and endpapers lined with black moiré silk. Gilt edges on witnesses. Covers and spine preserved. In embroidered slipcase, signed by the binder.

Contains a very beautiful edition for bibliophiles illustrated with 40 original compositions by the artist Luc-Olivier Merson (1846-1920) etched by Chessa as well as 35 culs-de-lampe, handwritten text by Cossard printed by Renouard. Intaglio printing by Porcabeuf

One of 340 numbered copies on vellum containing the condition with letter. Door no. 302.

Copy in excellent condition.
