A lovely edition of this 13th century chantefable, very abundantly illustrated by Joseph Hémard with superbly stencilled illuminations both outside and in the text.
Limited edition of 686 numbered copies. This one is nominative (unnumbered), printed on Arches vellum paper. for A Ciavarri. Handwritten signature of Joseph Hémard on the receipt.
Attached to the copy is a handwritten letter signed by Joseph Hémard in which he apologizes to Mr. Foussier for the cancellation of an appointment.
Paperback, folded cover, illustrated covers.
Condition: Cover slightly sunned. Very fresh interior, a tear without loss (3.5 cm) on one of the last two blank leaves. Very nice untrimmed copy. The subscription form is included as a loose leaf.
