Very rare edition for bibliophiles of the first novel by Blaise Cendrars, written upon returning from a trip to Brazil in 1924.
Published by the 'Médecins Bibliophiles,' it was limited to only 120 copies on Vélin de Rives, reserved for members and collaborators.
This No. 42 printed for Dr. Jean Margarot.
This edition is illustrated with 26 original etchings by Jacques Ramondot (1928-1999), printed by Patrick Degouy.
In sheets, folded cover and double-boxed.
Very beautiful specimen in excellent condition of freshness.
Gold marks a turning point in the work of its author who "takes leave" of the poem to become throughout the 1920s a novelist of heroic adventure.
A biographical novel about General Sutter, an adventurer from Basel (a canton in Switzerland), who made his fortune in California through agriculture in the first half of the 19th century.
