Beautiful illustrated edition by Pierre Gandon of Charles Nodier's fantastic novel - published in 1832 - adorned with 20 copper engravings, including 7 full-page plates.

A very rare copy, one of 22 nominative copies on Arches vellum, this one printed especially for Mr. Paul Haasen. Accompanied by a suite of notes, printed in black.

Pierre Gandon (1899 in L'Haÿ-les-Roses (Val-de-Marne) - 1990 in Briare (Loiret)), French painter, illustrator and stamp engraver. He engraved numerous stamps for French postal administrations — metropolitan France, colonies before and after their independence — and foreign administrations.

Paperback, sky blue folded cover and double slipcase in azure blue percaline. - Very fine copy in excellent, pristine condition, some rubbing and handling marks on the slipcase and cover very slightly creased.
