Description from the seller
Powerful and expressive, probably Italian volcanic landscape by Theo Goedvriend (1879–1969), executed in oil on board. The painting depicts a rugged, mountainous landscape under a dramatically clouded sky. The energetic, impasto brushwork and the use of deep gray, blue, and earth tones give the work a strong atmosphere and monumental appearance.
The paint is applied richly and tactilely, giving the surface a lot of texture and depth. The play of light and shadow in the cloud cover and the rugged terrain emphasizes the expressive qualities of this work and showcases the artist's technical skill.
The painting is in excellent condition, signed on the back, and comes from a private collection. It is offered with a beautiful, neutral frame that powerfully encases the work and makes it immediately suitable for presentation.
