Vintage wooden book holder in antique style from Greece, dating to 1970–1980, with a 24 cm high structure and a 11 cm diameter globe on a 16 cm deep base, modelled as a Atlas globe book support and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Spectacular vintage support set that marked history, used to hold books. Regarding Greek mythology, Atlas was a Titan responsible for bearing the weight of the heavens on his shoulders, a punishment decreed by the father of all gods, Zeus. Atlas was the leader of the Titans in the Titanomachy, a war against the gods of Olympus. Zeus and the Olympians emerged victorious, and Atlas received an eternal punishment: to support the celestial vault. Made with a wooden structure and figures, it has a bronze patina finished with high-quality resin, giving it an antique look. The base is made of bronze pieces on a black velvet sub-base, in very good condition. An important attachment with extensive photographic detail for assessment and evaluation. Its condition should be considered. It is packed in specialized, large-volume, and heavy packaging. I ship outside the European Community or Europe and independent countries, which is not included in Catawiki’s shipping price and incurs an additional shipping cost. Ideal Christmas gift.
