Portrait of a child in profile

Very beautiful oil on panel depicting a portrait of a child in profile, signed work by A. Kampf and definitively attributed to Arthur Kampf (1864–1950), a recognized German painter of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The composition is characterized by great psychological sensitivity and an intimate approach. The child's face, slightly tilted, is rendered with a soft and nuanced touch, highlighting the delicacy of the flesh, the gentleness of the modeling, and the subtlety of the chromatic transitions. The neutral background emphasizes the presence of the subject and focuses the viewer's attention on the inner expression.
Arthur Kampf, a professor and director of the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts, is particularly appreciated for his portraits and figures, where academic rigor and modern sensitivity combine. This panel perfectly illustrates this mastery, with a painting that is both sober, elegant, and profoundly human.
The work is presented in an antique, moulded wooden frame, in harmony with the period and highlighting the intimate character of the portrait.
