AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Offered: Antique letter scale circa 1909 – 60 grams – ornate foot with three identical faces.
Very beautiful antique letter scale with a richly decorated foot. This decorative mechanical letter scale most likely dates from around 1909 and is a wonderful example of early 20th-century European craftsmanship. The scale features a curved dial with a measuring range of 60 grams. On the dial, the word 'briefe' is written for 0 grams and above the 0.
The weighing mechanism is of a well-known and widely used type from this period and is securely attached to the foot with a nut at the bottom.
The foot is exceptionally elaborate and decorated with faces, floral motifs, and ornaments. In particular, the faces give the object a 'mythological and artistic' character.
There is no brand found on the casting, but what I could find on the internet is an identical foot depicted in the catalog of Ph.J. Maul from 1909, which supports the dating.
