S.S & Co = Atlas Watch Co./Stauffer, Son & Co., La-Chaux-de-Fonds
The company Stauffer, Fils & Cie. was founded around 1830 by Robert Stauffer. Originally, the company was based in La Chaux-de-Fonds at 29 Rue de la Paix. The company's goal was to import Swiss-made watches to London. After Jules Stauffer's death, a partnership followed between Francis Claude Francis and Charles Nicolet-Sandoz (1856-1944).
Fine, extraordinary wristwatch - an extremely early trench watch. - Hallmark 1914
Original dial - white enamel dial with Roman black numerals and a red 12. Massive hands - blued. Outer running connected minute track with an adjacent second scale. Outer Arabic numerals - 5 to 55 in black and 60 in red. Large second hand from the center - blued. Very good condition.
Back cover with hinge to open.
Back cover outside smooth - inside stamped, 9,375 additional gold stamps, C.N 267568.
Gold-colored cover, smooth outside (a small amount of dirt), stamped inside like the outer cover.
Fine work with anchor escapement, screw balance, and flat hairspring — described by S.S.Co SWISS MADE

Dark brown leather band 12mm. Total length 23.5cm. The leather band will not be shipped to countries outside the EU.

The watch is in its original condition; it has not been refinished and is in good condition. It is one of the first wristwatches ever made.
