Sculpture in marble powder titled Atena Lemnia senza testa, from the Classical period (5th century BC), made in Italy, unsigned and in discrete condition, measuring 15 cm wide, 37 cm high and 5 cm deep, and weighing 2.6 kg.
Description from the seller
Elegant marble powder sculpture depicting Athena Lemnia, a celebrated sculptural type of the classical age attributed to the original by Phidias (5th century BC).
The figure is depicted standing, wrapped in a refined peplos with soft, vertical drapery, typical of the Greek classical style, which imparts balance and solemnity to the overall composition. On the chest, the aegis with the head of Gorgon is clearly visible, an iconic element of the goddess Athena, symbolizing protection and power. The sculpture features a missing head and arms, intentionally referencing the fragmented state of archaeological copies that have come down to us, and enhancing the classical and museological charm of the piece.
Excellent rendering of the details of the drapery and surface, with a natural patina that enhances the marble effect. The shipment will be entrusted to a professional company that will handle professional and careful packaging, with an express courier and trackable package. No reserve price.
