Description from the seller
This 2014 Petrus is considered one of the top years. I have acquired this through Okhuysen Wine Merchants (est. 1867). They are the main importer of Petrus in the Netherlands. The wine has always been stored in pristine conditions.
Key Ratings & Notes:
- James Suckling: 98 points – Praised for floral notes, blackberries, cedar, and fine-grained texture.
- Wine Enthusiast: 96 points – Described as ripe, smooth, opulent, with red plum flavors and velvety texture.
- Wine Spectator: 95 points – Noted for lush fruit (blackberry, fig), tobacco, and ganache, with serious tannins.
- Decanter: 95 points – Called classical, fine, with lovely texture, natural fruit, and Merlot-driven tannins.
- Robert Parker's Wine Advocate / Vinous (Neal Martin): 93 points – Mentioned for a refined, discrete bouquet, subtle marine notes, and aristocratic character.
- Jancis Robinson: 18.5/20 – Highlighted beautiful texture, intense flavor, and minerality, calling it unique and "aérien" (airy).
Overall Vintage Character:
The 2014 Pétrus is often described as an elegant, aristocratic, and harmonious wine, a "tour de force" of terroir, showcasing purity and balance rather than overwhelming power, with notes of red fruit, truffle, and minerality, making it a standout for its vintage.
