Description from the seller
Comando G is a Spanish wine producer in the Sierra de Gredos region of Castilla y Leon, around 100 kilometers (60 miles) to the west of Madrid. Its name alludes to the specialism in wines from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape variety from Gredos. More directly it references the Spanish-language version of a cartoon series from the 1980s, known as Battle of the Planets in English (which featured a team of heroes called G-Force).
Around 10 hectares (25 acres) of vines are farmed between 900 and 1200 meters of altitude (2950 to 3940ft). The average age ranges between 50 and 80 years. Organic and biodynamic practices are used.
In the cellar, whole cluster fermentations are used for red wines, with gentle pressing for whites. Fermentations with natural ambient yeasts take place in open oak vats or French oak barrels. Wines are matured in oak vats, French oak barrels or concrete tanks.
Comando G founders Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia met while studying oenology in Madrid. Before joining forces both were already working in the Sierra de Gredos; Daniel at his family estate Bodegas Jimenez-Landi.
