Works by Joost van den Vondel: 50 works in 12 very fine blind-stamped parchment bindings with ribs on the spine.
Very good. A few spots on the pages. Interior pages lightly discolored or browned (a small number of pages), with some spots or foxing here and there. A tear, 0.5 to 1 cm, in 6 pages. Some creases.
Contains a total of 11 frontispieces, 3 portraits of Vondel, 4 engravings (1 fold-out), 5 portraits, and 249 text engravings (including the 199 emblems of Warande and De Gulde Winkel), as well as some title and printer vignettes — all depicted.
Convolute with 2 works
Presenting the Courtly Park of Animals: a work in which the moral, poetic, and historical virtues of philosophy are depicted in a charming and striking manner. It is illustrated with examples from ancient history in prose and explanations in rhyme. Decorated with one hundred and twenty-five copper engravings by Marcus Gerard - Amsterdam, Jan Blom, 1717 - (11) 126 pages (=251 pp) - with a title vignette and 125 engraved illustrations.
