AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

静潮
Pigment on canvas
100 cm x 140 cm (39 inches x 55 inches)

静潮 (Seichō) - Japanese for silent tide - is a large, atmospheric painting that hovers between seascape and abstraction. A dark, muted band at the top and base of the canvas holds a wide, luminous centre where soft greys, greens and warm ochres gently fade into one another, evoking a distant shoreline seen through fog, or water breathing quietly under a low sky.

The work is built from many transparent washes of phthalo green, yellow ochre and raw sienna, allowing the pigments to soak into the weave of the canvas. Faint streaks, blurred horizontal traces and small irregularities remain visible, recording gravity, gesture and time. These unpolished details embody a wabi-sabi sensibility: beauty found in imperfection, in erosion and in the quiet residue of process.

From afar, the painting appears almost weightless and minimal, viewed up close, it reveals subtle textures, fine shifts of tone and a delicate vibration between darkness and light.

This original painting by VITYRA is hand-signed on the reverse side to preserve the purity of the artwork’s surface and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. The artwork will be shipped rolled in a secure, protective tube - an eco-friendly and safe method that reduces shipping costs and risk of damage. The canvas measures 100 x 140 cm (39 x 55 inches), with an extra 5 cm border on each side for easy re-stretching.
