Antique Edo-period full-size Japanese samurai armor set from the Kaga Domain, featuring a peach-shaped momogata kabuto with rust lacquer and a gold inome forecrest, a leather cuirass and kusazuri, a half menpo mask, a hawk and ocean painted vest signed Seikadō – Painted by Shunsui, incomplete with missing sode and suneate and no storage chest, height on display about 145 cm.

【Product details】
This Edo-period or later full-size samurai armor set features a momogata kabuto (peach-shaped helmet) with a rust-colored lacquer finish. The maedate (forecrest) is adorned with a gold inome (boar’s eye) motif. In the Kaga Domain, gold inome marks signified direct retainers, while silver ones were used by vassals.
The armor set includes a half menpo face mask with a neck guard, a cuirass, tassets to protect the lower body, arm guards, and thigh guards designed for knee flexibility. Constructed using traditional techniques, it combines metal plates, lacquered leather, and silk cords.
The vest is hand-painted with a hawk and ocean scenery. The inscription reads "Seikadō – Painted by Shunsui" and is accompanied by seals.
Higuchi Shunsui (1792–1856): A painter of the Kanō school from Kaminakajō (present-day Kumagaya City). He left works on the coffered ceiling of Nōgo-ji Temple. One of his notable students was Ogiwara Shunzai.
Inside the menpo, the inscription reads "Base work by Seiuemon, finished by Sagiyoshi."
The set is incomplete, missing sode (shoulder guards) and suneate (shin guards). The storage chest is not included. The cuirass and kusazuri (tassets) are made of leather rather than iron. A stand is not included.
