【Product details】
This is a large decorative wall plaque in the shape of a samurai helmet, handcrafted in wood and finished with layers of black and red lacquer, as well as paint mixed with gold powder. The bold front crest features a dragon and a pair of kuwagata horns, giving the piece a powerful and impressive presence.
In Japanese culture, the dragon is a protective creature associated with strength, authority, water, and the safeguarding of households. It also symbolises good fortune and the ability to overcome adversity, making it a meaningful motif for samurai-related art.
The plaque is designed to stand on its own, but it also comes with a hanging cord so it can be displayed on the wall immediately.
There is noticeable wear consistent with age and use, including areas of lacquer loss, multiple scuffs, abrasion, small chips to the wood, soiling, and many small scratches on the reverse lower section. Good used condition overall. Please refer to the photos for details.
