Original Soviet ideological sculpture by V. Sychev, produced by “Monumentskulptura” plant (Leningrad), Cold War era
An original Soviet tabletop bust of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, produced in 1961 by the famous state factory “Monumentskulptura” (Leningrad) — one of the leading sculptural enterprises of the USSR, responsible for official monuments and ideological art.
This bust represents a classic canonical image of Lenin, executed in the strict style of Socialist Realism. The facial expression, posture, and attire convey authority, determination, and ideological symbolism characteristic of Soviet propaganda art of the Cold War period.
The sculpture is signed and dated on the reverse:
- “В. Сычев, 1961 г.” (V. Sychev, 1961)
- Factory mark: “З-д Монументскульптура, Ленинград”
Such busts were used in:
- government offices,
- schools and universities,
- party institutions,
- Houses of Culture and official interiors.
Today, these objects are sought after by collectors of:
