Description from the seller
The Travel series tells, with irony and delicacy, the silent journey of pairs of animals that choose to escape from humans. Improbable pairings between different creatures create unexpected alliances, suspended in a fragile yet necessary balance, where predators and prey coexist without conflict.
The journey is not physical, but symbolic: an inner migration towards a possible salvation, or perhaps towards an illusion of freedom. The animals appear motionless, aware, as if caught in a moment of waiting before departure. Small narrative elements introduce a surreal and poetic dimension, emphasizing the contrast between strength and vulnerability.
Painting, built through light glazes and essential marks, enhances the suspended and dreamlike atmosphere. Irony becomes a critical and reflective tool, revealing a meditation on the relationship between humans and nature and the urgent need to rethink coexistence among species.
Travel is configured as a contemporary fairy tale, where animals, more than humans, seem to have understood that in order to survive, it is necessary to change direction.
The work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and the artist's autograph.
Active since 1998, Sonny Insinna studied at the Almeyda Art High School and graduated in Painting (First and Second level) from the Academy of Fine Arts of Palermo. His works are part of public collections and museums, including: G. Sciortino Civic Museum (Monreale), Trapani Bishop's Seminary, Stauros Contemporary Art Museum (Teramo), Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art (Pennsylvania, USA).
He has exhibited in numerous institutional contexts in Italy and abroad: Palazzo Ziino (Palermo), Valentina’s Art Gallery (Charleston, USA), Torre dei Ventimiglia (Montelepre), Galleria A Sud ArteContemporanea (Realmonte), Sacro Convento di Assisi, and Biennale d’Arte Sacra (USA).
In 2011, he founded the Free School of Visual Arts 'Mialò Art.' In 2024, he published the manual 'Colors in Balance.'
Among his achievements: sculptures in alabaster and bronze for religious entities, and theatrical scenographies.
For years, he has focused his research on the languages of contemporary art, with particular attention to figuration and the symbolic dimension.
