Original edition of the French translation of Stefan Zweig's excellent biography of Marie-Antoinette.
Numbered copy of the print, limited to 548 copies, this one being number 214 on Vélin de Monfourat.
Example of a choice made in a luxury binding in half-navy blue morocco with corner protectors, four spine nerves, gilt title and author. Gilt head. Covers preserved, without the spine.
Condition: good, minor flaws, spine worn, rare scuffs. Interior fresh, faint trace of a previous sender erased on the half-title, micro-tears at the margin of pages 497-498.
An excellent biography of Marie-Antoinette, brilliant and well-researched, in which Zweig perfectly analyzes the psychology of her character.
