Pommes dans un intérieur Nabi is a 1924 French modern Nabi-style oil on canvas still life attributed to Edmond Lesage, depicting three apples on a dark cloth in front of a green wallpapered wall, measuring 24.5 cm by 33 cm and sold with its original gilded frame.
Description from the seller
Bearing an Edmond Lesage (?) signature and dated 1924, this intimate still life shows three apples placed on a dark cloth in front of a wall covered with deep greens, punctuated with orange touches. The composition evokes the Nabis interiors, where decor – wallpaper, drapes, subdued light – becomes an integral motif, in the spirit of Vuillard or Bonnard. The tight brushwork, the vibrant blues and greens of the foreground contrast with the softness of the fruits, creating a silent and warm atmosphere.
A superb material and a unique atmosphere.
A very lovely pochade, perhaps by sculptor Edmond Lesage, whose dates match, sold and attributed to.
Oil on canvas folded on cardboard or panel, presented in its antique gilded frame.
The canvas is folded over a piece of cardboard and framed as such, probably since the origin. The date and signature are visible in the fold of the canvas and are difficult to decipher. That is why the painting is sold as is, with some missing areas at the level of the rebate background.
