Description from the seller
Tectites (from the Greek tektos, melted) are objects of natural glass formed by the impact of large meteorites on the Earth's surface. Tectites are the driest known minerals, with an average water content of 0.005%. This is very rare, as most of the craters where tectites formed were underwater before the impact. Zircon partially melted within some tectites has also been discovered. This, along with the water content, suggests that tectites formed under very high temperature and pressure (similar to those needed to form diamonds).
The indochinitas like those in this batch were formed by the impact of a large meteorite 800,000 years ago, according to the most recent studies. The collision was brutal, so much so that molten material covered 10% of the Earth's surface, with indochinitas even found in Antarctica.
These specimens are natural, of good size and beautiful shape, of excellent quality, and perfect for jewelry making, resale, or gifting. Don't miss this opportunity.
We belong to the leading global associations related to meteorites: GMA (Global Meteorite Association), IMCA (International Meteorite Collectors Association), and The Meteoritical Society, so we send certificates and guarantee the authenticity of all our meteorites for life. Buy with confidence.
Greetings and good luck!
