AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

The meteorite from this lot is a beautiful, large complete meteorite, an Carbonaceous Chondrite of the exclusive CO3 type, found in the Sahara in 2020, and recently classified under the official name NWA 14317. There are fewer than 2 kg known of this fall worldwide, making it a classification with few specimens and one of the few opportunities to acquire one.

CO chondrites are type 3, with abundant chondrules that make up about 70% of the meteorite, well-defined although small in size—about 0.15 mm on average. They also contain small-sized CAIs. It is typical for CO chondrites to show small, clearly visible inclusions of free metal, mainly nickel-iron, which appear as small scales on the cut and polished surfaces.

One of the photographs shows the interior of another piece cut from the same fall, giving an idea of the beautiful interior of this type of chondrites.

An excellent opportunity to add this marvel of the universe to your collection.

All our meteorites come with a certificate of authenticity. We belong to the leading global associations related to meteorites: IMCA (International Meteorite Collectors Association), GMA (Global Meteorite Association), and The Meteoritical Society.
