Description
"Ego" is a work with a strong symbolic and emotional charge that places the viewer in front of a central male figure, bare of artifices and elevated to a nearly ritual position. The exposed and vulnerable body adopts a posture that alludes both to sacrifice and the exaltation of the self. Arms open, torso upright, face raised in an ambiguous gesture between surrender and challenge.
The vertical composition reinforces the idea of ascension, while the secondary figures surrounding it, darker and almost dissolved into the pictorial matter, seem to succumb to the protagonist, suggesting a constant tension between dependence and power. The cloth partially covering the body introduces a dialogue with classical iconography, but here it is reinterpreted from a contemporary and more intimate perspective.
Ego does not propose a simple celebration of the self, but rather a reflection on its weight, fragility, and need to be seen. The work confronts the viewer with the paradox of the human ego, a source of identity and strength, but also of loneliness and sacrifice.
