Description from the seller
Kamishimo(裃) is a type of formal dress for men in kimono, usually consisting of a kataginu (肩衣 shoulder gown) and hakama(袴) made of the same fabric and worn over a kosode (小袖 short-sleeved kimono). In the Edo period (1603-1867), it was considered the most formal attire for unauthorized samurai, and was often followed by peasants and townspeople of rank, and is still used in traditional performing arts and festivals.
This kamishimo is made of hemp cloth and dyed with katazome.
The family crest is dyed on the chest and back of the kataginu and on the waist of the hakama.
The color is burnt brown.
