Original edition of these Memories and Reflections by the painter and creator of lyrical abstraction Georges Mathieu (1921-2020), published in the form of a triangular volume.
Book dedicated and signed by the author: 'For // Agnès and Hélène // The privilege of being // with the most sensitive thoughts // of // Georges // Mathieu.'
Non-commercial copy (printed mention at the colophon)
Violet illustrated Bradel binding on the front cover of a composition in red by the author, with red lettering on the back, and gilded edges.
Outside the main text, 12 drawings by the artist are reproduced.
Good condition, micro-tears at the ends of the caps, clean and fresh interior, missing the first guard. Good specimen.
For twenty-five years, Georges Mathieu has continuously expressed his revolt against Cartesian humanism and his fury against the 'abject' bourgeois society, denouncing the sclerosis of our education and the deficiencies of our institutions.
