The most important Lapis Lazuli deposits throughout history have been found in the Badakhshan region of Afghanistan, where the stone has been mined for over 6,000 years. Lapis originating from Afghanistan is considered the highest quality, renowned for its deep blue tones and rich distribution of pyrite.The stone was regarded as sacred by the Pharaohs and was used in jewelry and funerary masks, such as the mask of Tutankhamun. It also appeared on royal seals and religious objects.In many cultures, it is known as the “stone of kings.” Lapis Lazuli has been seen as a symbol of wisdom, inner intuition, and spiritual awareness.
This necklace is composed of 40 round-cut (cabochon / round-cut) and 5 baguette-cut stones crafted from natural lapis lazuli. The lapis lazuli specimens used are lazurite-based, with naturally occurring pyrite inclusions and calcite veining, preserving their original mineralogical structure.
The connecting elements between the stones consist of rings, spheres, and silver beads produced using the traditional granulation technique (güherse). All metal components are made of 925 sterling silver and have been entirely hand-shaped using non-casting methods, reflecting traditional silversmithing practices.
Independent of industrial mass production, this piece demonstrates artistic and collectible value through its material selection, stone arrangement, and metal craftsmanship.
