Birth Control was a German Psychedelic Rock band founded in Berlin in August 1966. They are amongst the longest running bands of German Rock.
The band was a brainchild of Hugo Egon Balder and Bernd Koschmidder, who were before in the Berlin-based band "The Earls", which disbanded shortly before. Their bandmates Reinhold Sobotta and Rolf Gurra joined them, as well. In August 1966, the band was born with help of musicians of the simultaneously split band "The Gents". The latter split contributed some more founding members, Fritz Gröger, Klaus Orso and Reiner Borchert.
In 1969, the band went for 3 months to Lebanon, after their return, they recorded their first single and as follow-up, their debut album. During the following years, the band develloped to one of the most influential German rock groups. The band suddenly stopped, when singer Bruno Frenzel died in 1983 due to an electric shock, he received on a concert in Switzerland in 1975.
