NWA 869 chondrite slice from Tindouf, Sahara, Algeria, featuring nice chondrules and iron, measuring 5.2 cm and weighing 9.5 g.
Description from the seller
Magnificent meteorite NWA 869, one of the most well-known stony meteorites in the world. It is a brecciated chondrite, classified as L3-6. The dispersion area is located near Tindouf, Algeria, extending also towards the border with Morocco.
In this fairly large slice, we can see magnificent chondrules inside, free metal, and its brecciated structure with zones of different lithologies. Each 'circle' (chondrule) represents a grain of matter that floated in the protoplanetary disk, which, when they joined together, formed increasingly larger bodies. That is why, like this chondrite, they tell us about how the solar system was formed in its origins, making them of great scientific value.
Cut with diamond wire to achieve a large surface area with low weight. Perfectly polished on both sides. Spectacular!
A great opportunity to add to your collection a piece of the most famous classified condrite in the world. Condritas are the oldest materials in the solar system, with an estimated formation age of 4,550 million years. A true jewel of the universe in your hands.
All our meteorites come with an IMCA (International Meteorite Collectors Association) certificate, ensuring the authenticity of all our meteorites for life. Buy with confidence.
Greetings and our best wishes.
