Description from the seller
A special Brutalist menorah-style candlestick with nine arms, made of cast brass and constructed from a network of elongated, abstract human figures.
The sculptural open structure, rough texture, and expressive movements of the figures closely align with mid-century Judaica art and designs attributed to artists in the style of Frederick Weinberg.
Although the object has the shape of a menorah, it is a decorative artwork, not a ritual Chanukiah (the arms are of equal height and there is no distinguishing shamash arm).
The piece is a beautiful example of how light, human figures, and abstraction come together in a single artistic whole.
Symbolic meaning
The intertwined figures collectively carry the light, which refers to:
Connection & community – the figures seem to support each other.
Passing on light – an essential theme within menorah symbolism.
Vitality & movement – the open forms and dynamic lines depict growth and continuity.
This makes the object not only decorative but also spiritually and artistically meaningful.
Condition
Good vintage condition
Light patina and signs of age
Any candle remnants in some holders.
No fractions or missing parts.
Fits well with the character of brutalist metalworks.
