In this still life, I wanted to capture the beauty of something simple: two pears in a ceramic bowl, found in a thrift store. The dark, neutral background helps emphasize the shapes and colors, allowing the everyday fruit to take center stage. Two cool pears on a pedestal.

I am Melinda Rutgers, a painter. I completed my training as a portrait painter at Portretschool Amsterdam. Currently, my focus is on painting still lifes. I paint realistically in oil and am inspired by everyday moments and objects that often go unnoticed. I am fascinated by different materials and textures, and in my work, I explore how light, texture, and detail can together evoke a mood; a quest to find the boundary between seeing and feeling.

Since 2024, I have been part of the 'Masters of Realism' group. A great recognition of my craftsmanship and contribution to the tradition of Dutch Realism.
