Description from the seller
dandelion
40 x 80 cm
Oil paint on linen
2025
Framed in a white wooden box frame.
The power of the color red against the fragility of the dandelion puff. That contrast appealed to me. The red glass vase adds warmth and intensity to the composition and immediately draws attention, while the dried dandelion symbolizes transience and silence.
I am Melinda Rutgers, a painter. I completed my training as a portrait painter at Portretschool Amsterdam. Currently, my focus is on painting still lifes. I paint realistically in oil and am inspired by everyday moments and objects that often go unnoticed. I am fascinated by different materials and textures, and in my work, I explore how light, texture, and detail can together evoke a mood; a quest to find the boundary between seeing and feeling.
Since 2024, I have been part of the 'Masters of Realism' group. A great recognition of my craftsmanship and contribution to the tradition of Dutch Realism.
