Aesop’s fables are a large collection of short moral stories traditionally attributed to Aesop, a storyteller believed to have lived around 620–560 BCE in ancient Greece. His historical existence is uncertain, but the stories associated with his name have shaped world literature for over two millennia.
Most notable late-Victorian printing of Aesop’s fables. It is selected, retold, and historically annotated by Joseph Jacobs, one of the most influential folklorists of the 19th century.
This edition is richly illustrated with numerous drawings by British artist Richard Heighway, known for his stylized black-and-white line art.
