Description from the seller

Original advertising poster from 1903 for the theatrical performance of 'De twee Weezen' by the theater company 'De Oud Vlaamsche Vrienden' at the Variétés theater on Diepestraat in Antwerp. This 'magnificent opening performance' was in fact an adaptation of the highly popular melodrama 'Les deux Orphelines' by French writers Adolphe d'Ennery and Eugène Cormon.

The play premiered in 1874 at the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin in Paris and grew into a worldwide success over the following decades, especially in the United States, where 'The Two Orphans' drew full houses in New York, Brooklyn, and Broadway (1904 and 1926), and has been adapted into film at least four times since 1908.
Copyright: David Allen & Sons Ltd. Belfast (Ireland) for the image and Jan Verhoeven, Sint Antoniusstraat 12 - Antwerp
for the text strips
Condition B+: Restored edge tears and folds. Image entirely intact. Bright colors.
Shipping: rolled in a sturdy tube with Bpost track & trace or Bpost International.
