History of the wine/winery

Barolo “Cicala” is a single‑vineyard Barolo from the famous Bussia cru in Monforte d’Alba, produced exclusively from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. The Cicala vineyard is known for its calcareous-clay soils and excellent exposure, giving wines of great structure, longevity and classic Barolo complexity. The 1998 vintage in Barolo is regarded as very good to excellent, and Aldo Conterno is one of the historic producers of the area, celebrated for age‑worthy, traditional yet refined wines.

The 1998 Cicala is now fully mature and drinking beautifully, with developed tertiary aromas and silky tannins; it can be enjoyed now but will continue to hold well for several more years if properly cellared.
