A comprehensive survey of Central American geography, politics, and the economic necessity for a British-controlled transit route across the Isthmus, independent of what Pim called the "American monopoly at Panama"
Condition:
Original blue cloth boards with gilt illustration to front and titling and price to spine.
Wear to edges, corners and extremities of spine.
Brown endpapers with previous owner's name written neatly in ink to front pastedown.
Foxing to the prelims but the main body of the text is free of it.
Colour frontispiece and 6 color plates all present with tissue guards; 9 maps, two of which are large folding ones, both with cellotape repairs, one is tinted.
Binding is sound but not tight otherwise in good condition throughout.
Publisher's catalogue to the rear of the book.
A complete and unmarked copy of this remarkable attempt to open a highway to the Pacific.
