Description from the seller
Born in Ravenna in 1950, he moved to Florence at a young age. He began publishing comics in the magazine Il mago, later continuing to publish stories and strips that appeared in various publications during the 1980s and 1990s: from comic magazines like Il Grifo, Comix, and Lupo Alberto to current affairs newspapers such as Tutto and Musica, a weekly insert of La Repubblica, for which he created caricature portraits of famous singers. Along with other young authors of the time, he also published his comics in specialized magazines such as Hey Rock (published by Coniglio), which features the same-named strips, Animal Comic, and Cuori Solitari (published by ACME), among others, from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. Recently, a monographic volume titled 'Ogni volta che sono Vasco,' published by Coniglio, was released, offering an ironic take on the biography of the famous rock singer Vasco Rossi.
A recurring character in Cavezzali's comics was the stereotype of the little man with the big nose and large, wide-open eyes, almost completely hiding his forehead: a cliché that appeared in many of Cavezzali's works, from the protagonists of his lighthearted comics about God to the secondary characters of Ava.
Cavezzali also had a large body of work including many cartoons, illustrations, and short stories published in a wide variety of magazines, as well as a series of stories and illustrations featuring Ava and Palmiro, the duckling created by Sauro Ciantini, a colleague and friend of Cavezzali, which appeared in the magazine Comix. Many of Cavezzali's stories, especially from his more recent period, were also created in collaboration with the comic artist James Hogg.
In 2007, still in collaboration with Sauro Ciantini, he published the detective novel 'Una busta per Grace' with Neftasia Editore in Pesaro. At Lucca Comix, in the 2019 edition, the publishing house CUT UP released a hardcover book by Ava that collected the complete story published in Lupo Alberto, along with many unpublished cartoons. In Marina di Pietrasanta, from May 11 to June 9, 2019, for the exhibition 'Leonardo 500', a cartoon about Leonardo da Vinci was displayed.
