Description from the seller
Description of the work
Asterione is the true name of the Minotaur in Greek mythology.
Not a monster, but a sacred and tragic being, born from the union of instinct and destiny, imprisoned in the labyrinth not because of guilt, but out of fear.
In this sculpture, Vincent Montecristo restores the Minotaur to its original dignity: not as a perpetrator, but as a symbolic victim of repression. Asterion thus becomes the archetype of the most authentic part of the human being — instinct, vital force, primordial energy — which society tends to hide or sacrifice.
The figure is compact, focused, and charged with a contained inner tension. It does not shout, does not attack: it resists.
The body seems to hold a movement not yet unleashed, as if the work represents the moment before transformation.
Made with the traditional lost wax casting technique, the sculpture retains vivid traces of the process: vibrant surfaces, intentional imperfections, marks of fire and the artist's hand. Each casting is unique, unrepeatable.
Asterion – The Minotaur is not just a sculpture, but an archetypal object: a symbol of reconciliation with the Shadow, an invitation to traverse the inner labyrinth to rediscover one's center.
The input is a dash character, which does not require translation.
