Japanese Gilded Dragon Design Kashibachi (Sweet Bowl)
Marked “Eifuku” – With Original Tomobako – Showa Period
This piece is a Japanese ceramic kashibachi (sweet bowl) decorated with an elaborate gilded dragon motif.
A dynamic ascending dragon (shōryū) is painted across the surface in red overglaze enamels and gold on a white porcelain-like body, creating a design that combines strength and elegance.
A floral motif is placed at the center of the interior, and the rim is accented with gold, giving the bowl a refined appearance suitable for tea ceremonies and traditional Japanese settings.
While intended for practical use as a sweet bowl, it also has strong decorative appeal.
The base bears the mark “Eifuku”, and the accompanying original wooden storage box (tomobako) is inscribed with
“Kutani ware” and “Kashibachi (sweet bowl).”
This mark is known from works associated with Eifuku-gama, a kiln recognized mainly for producing tea-related ceramics.
