Description from the seller
Brief instructions for confessors on how to administer the sacrament of Penitence. Divided into two books, by M.R.P.F. Bartolomeo de Medina, first professor and lecturer of theology at Salamanca of the Order of St. Dominic... Newly translated from Spanish into Italian. With two very rich and useful tables. In Venice, learned by Bernardo Bassa, 1584. (In Venice, published by Domenico Nicolini, 1584). 36 pages, 251; 16 x 11 cm. An uncommon work by the Spanish Dominican Bartolomé de Medina (1527–1580), who dedicated almost his entire life to teaching Theology at the University of Salamanca. In this work, he shows great humility in instructing priests on proper conduct fitting their priestly ministry. Entirely exemplary, but showing signs of age: wormholes, a torn lower margin of the title page, small missing parts, stained title page. The binding in rigid parchment is missing the spine. Religious imprint on the title page and a large editorial mark at the colophon; an out-of-text plate and beautiful lively initial letters.
