Description from the seller
Decorative bronze seat made in the style of the Renaissance, probably from the 20th century.
The object features a rich, embossed decoration, composed of medallions depicting male profiles styled in the Renaissance manner, stylized heraldic motifs, scrollwork, and interlacing patterns. The movable handle is adorned with carved animal heads, adding a striking presence and a strong decorative quality to the overall piece.
A short Latin inscription on the upper part of the situla.
Not the prince of liberty, Johannes Bervolus Boa 1556
This inscription, in a humanist style, refers to a historical date (1556), but the object itself is a historicist reproduction inspired by Renaissance models.
The font is thick and heavy, with a beautiful, uniform antique patina, indicating careful craftsmanship. The interior is smooth, consistent with decorative rather than utilitarian production.
